TIRUCHI: Elipe Dharma Rao, Judge, Madras High Court, inspected the Evening Court functioning inside the District Court Complex here on Saturday.
The Evening Court in Tiruchi was inaugurated on July 5 along with those set up in Chennai, Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tirunelveli. The Principal District Judge, Tiruchi, S. Thangakani, Judicial Officers and Lawyers were present on the occasion. Six Magistrates are allotted to the Evening Court on rotation basis. A total number of 1,322 cases were filed and disposed of by the Evening Court, Tiruchi, during the period from July 5 to August 31 and a fine amount of Rs. 5.77 lakh was collected. The cases were registered under the Tamil Nadu City Police Act, Indian Penal Code, Motor Vehicles Act, Seeds Act, Motor Transport Workers Act, Immoral Traffic Prevention Act and the Corporation Act.
